“Psst,” the mother said, crouching beside her daughter like they were on a treasure hunt. “Ever wonder what came first—the chicken or the egg?”

The girl grinned. “Everyone argues about that!”

Her mother held up one finger. “But the Bible doesn’t. ‘In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.’ That’s the first line. Genesis 1:1.”

“So…?” the girl asked.

“So first came God. Then creation,” the mother whispered. “And when God made chickens, He didn’t start with an egg. He made them feathered, flapping, and ready to go.”

The girl laughed. “No waiting around for hatching!”

“Exactly. Mystery cracked,” her mother said. “Eggshell and all.”
